Rieko Umemura

Position:Yoga Teacher
Biography:
My Bikram Yoga journey began when I lived in the Philippines for work in September 2007. I remember my first class being an incredible challenge. But I found myself back in the hot room the next day and I kept going back. With consistent practice and help of the inspiring teachers, I have come a long way and attended the Advanced Yoga Asana seminar in USA, joined both national and international Yoga Asana Championships in the Philippines and USA, and finally graduated from Bikram yoga teacher training in USA in spring 2011. While teaching in India in 2012, I also completed Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher training in Mysore and studied Asana, Pranayama, Patanjali Yoga Sutra and Ayurveda, sister science of yoga. Now I have completed study of Ayurveda in Adelaide in 2017. Yoga is life time learning and always challenging as we deal with our ever-changing body and mind. The Sutra says "Yoga is to still the activities of the mind." Teaching is meditative and very rewarding. I love seeing your smiling happy faces on your way out after the class and seeing your transformation over practice. "There are going to be days when you feel a little sore, and other days when you suddenly make a breakthrough, and it feels great. That's just the way it is, it's the way everything is." a book, How Yoga Works. Enjoy your yoga practice, your own inner journey. See you on the mat. Love Rieko
