Adelaide Yin Yoga

Adelaide Yin Yoga is what you've been missing!

Adelaide Yin Yoga  is something you might have heard about but is something you need to discover and find out why you should visit a local studio here in our own backyard.

In today’s busy world, traffic jams, meetings and constant social media alerts, sometimes it can seem easier to just sit back and switch off. People often say, ‘I’m not flexible enough’ or ‘I don’t have the time for yoga’ but after just a few classes, you’ll wonder why you haven’t made the time for yoga before. Research shows that practising yoga for as little as an hour a week can have a massive impact on your lifestyle, flexibility, sleep patterns and quality of life. Slowly but surely, once a week can turn into twice a week and before you know it, yoga becomes a habit and one that has the power to change your life for the better.

Adelaide Yin Yoga or Yoga, whats the difference? Well firstly, Yin yoga is a passive form of yoga, you don’t tense your muscles and it’s important to relax. Other forms of Yoga, such as Bikram or Ashtanga, are known as Yang activities as they require much more energy and involve tensing your muscles, resulting in different benefits.

In Yang styles of yoga the primary aim is to stretch out the muscles, whereas in Yin the aim is to reach the connective tissues (also referred to as the fascia) that surround the muscles and connect the muscles to the joints. Holding poses for a longer period of time in a relaxed way can help get deep into the stretch and strengthen the tissues. It is thought that this process not only benefits muscle tissue and fibres but also helps to encourage bone regeneration, benefiting people with osteoporosis greatly with regular practice.

Open to all

Yin yoga is open to almost everyone. With passive poses, mainly on the floor and wide access to props everyone in a class can benefit in one way or another. Yin yoga can also be used as a meditative practice, by tuning in to sights and sounds, there is plenty to focus on to help those tense thoughts of the week drift freely away.

Yin yoga’s close link to the natural state, help drives a focus that we are the beginning point to driving self-healing and self-help. Tension in Shoulders, Back and Hips is often released during Yin classes. These points often bear heavy loads, not just in our physical state but also mentally. By opening these areas up it is not uncommon to feel a range of emotions during class. The key is to breathe deeply and let them pass, helping you to deal with them in the moment and in the future.

There are many rewards Adelaide Yin Yoga bring. And there are plenty waiting for you in your next class
