Bikram Posture #9 – Triangle

The Triangle Pose, also known by its Sanskrit name ‘Trikanasana’ is one of the most healing and strengthening of the 26 Bikram Yoga postures.

This beautiful stretch puts emphasis on the legs, back, torso, chest, neck, shoulders, and arms – it literally gives a stretch from the feet to the head! While in the pose, it is said that every bone, muscle, joint, ligament, tendon, nerve, vein, capillary, and organ are nourished and strengthened. This is a truly ‘tonic’ pose that does amazing things for every single part of the body.

Many people have found that the lengthening and flexing of the lower back in the Triangle Pose has helped to fix and align corked spine. It has also been found to be very helpful for people who are dealing with joint inflammation issues like arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and injury.

The openness and expansion of the chest in the Bikram Yoga Triangle Pose helps open the lungs, tonify the heart, and empower the entire cardiovascular system. The heart and lungs are brought into harmony as the breath and heartbeat work together to maintain the pose.

If you deal with any kind of tension, range of motion issues, or lack of flexibility, working with this pose gently over time may be the most helpful thing you can do!
